HOUSE EXAMINATION AND INTERNAL ASSESSMENT
The College conducts a house examination for the students in the month of December/January. Toppers in each class in House Examination who have obtained a certain minimum percentage as notified are suitably rewarded. In order to be eligible to appear at the University Examination, every student is required to attend tutorials/preceptorials and also appear in the class tests and house examination and give satisfactory performance. Students who abstain themselves from the tests or take these casually, shall be subjected to severe disciplinary action. The Internal assessment is done on the basis of attendance, house examination and tests/tutorial/preceptorial assignments. 25% of the total marks in each paper are awarded based on internal assessment.
The University Ordinance VIII Clause 2-A (I) states that “No person shall be deemed to have satisfied the required conditions in respect of his instructions, unless in addition to the requirements regarding attendance and other conditions, he has appeared and satisfied by the performance to the Principal of his College in such tests, written and/or oral, as may be held by him in his discretion. The Principal of the College shall have, and shall be deemed always to have had the power to detain a student in the same class in which he/she has been studying or not to send him up for the University Examination in case he did not appear at aforesaid test or his/her performance was not satisfactory”.
As per E.C. Resolution No. 78 dated 30 September, 2003, Internal Assessment is applicable for students admitted from the academic session 2003-04 onwards in both undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. 25% of maximum marks in each paper in undergraduate courses are assigned for Internal Assessment and the remaining 75% marks for the Annual/Semester University Examinations for the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, respectively. The maximum marks for the University Examination in each paper are reduced accordingly as shown below:

For B. Sc. Physical Sciences and B. Sc. Applied Physical Sciences 50% marks in practical paper will be reserved for internal assessment.
Out of 25% marks in each paper, 10% marks shall be assigned to the House Examination to be conducted by the College. 10% marks shall be given for the written assignments, and project reports/presentations/term papers/seminars. Each student shall be given at least one written assignment per paper in each term, subject to a minimum of 12 written assignments per year for all the papers taken together.
The remaining 5% marks shall be given for regularity in attending lectures and practicals/tutorials/preceptorials. Marks of attendance component of internal assessment are as follows: |

The benefit of Medical Certificate is NOT given while calculating marks to be awarded for regularity. Students participating in annual NCC camps or deputed to undertake Civil Defense work, those enrolled in NSS and deputed to public assignments with the permission of the Head of the institution, those participating in sports activities organized by Inter-University Board or participating in national or international fixtures approved by the Vice-Chancellor, those representing University in Inter-University Youth Festival, those participating in periodic training in Territorial army and those deputed by the College to take part in Inter-College sports, fixtures, debates, seminars, symposia or social work projects will get the benefit of attendance for Internal Assessment for classes missed as well as for eligibility to appear for examination. While calculating the total number of lectures delivered in the College, for their course of study in each academic year, the number of lectures etc., in each subject delivered, during the period of absence for that purpose shall not be taken into account.
The Internal Assessment marks shall be shown separately in the University marks sheet, and these marks are added to the annual/semester examination marks for determining the division of the student. |
